Our Story
Overview
Civity is a boutique entrant to the Gold Coast professional services market with a goal to deliver new and innovative approaches to city strategy and town planning approvals.
Former top-tier town planners and co-directors, Liam Morris and Martin Garred, identified a need to create an agile, customer focused boutique planning advisory firm, which delivers uncomplicated, commercial advice.
Liam and Martin share a common vision; to establish a firm that is distinctly different, by turning complex urban challenges into opportunities; assisting cities position themselves competitively in a global network of interconnected places.
Martin Garred
Director & Town Planner
Martin draw’s from a diverse background in both the public and private sector, having held executive roles in both State and Local government within Australia, to provide leadership on a diverse range of policy, planning and infrastructure matters.
Martin encourages and supports lateral and progressive thinking - inspiring creative solutions to urban growth challenges and producing evidence-based policy development.
Liam and I are thrilled to bring our vision to life. We know clients are demanding a shift in the way they engage with their advisors and like the Gold Coast, our youthfulness is what sets us apart. The traditional view of the town planning advisory role is outdated, and Civity was formed because we care about delivering outcomes in a way that works for clients and our City.
Liam Morris
Director & Town Planner
Liam has a unique skillset, having been responsible for wide range urban policy development and community engagement activities. His experience includes developing complex policy initiatives to support the economic benefit realisation for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3A extension.
Liam has experience in managing and communicating with high-value clients, politicians and government stakeholders. Liam has strong interpersonal skills and an ability to tailor his communication style and technique to suit the audience.
The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, but this doesn’t mean we need to compromise the loveable and liveable qualities of our City. Shaping well-designed and responsive growth of the Gold Coast is at heart of Civity’s modern rationale.
